I’ve often tried to capture my culinary experiences through drawing. Yet I've realised that drawing the appearance of food on a plate, as though drawing a still life, only captures one element of a meal, and not the most exciting part: the flavour and how it makes you feel.

In 2024 I traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, to try to find out how taste might be illustrated. The result is Bang Cook Book. A collection of seven classic Thai recipes, accompanied by illustrations visualising their taste.

The project pushed me out of my comfort zone, allowing me to work with abstraction in both subject matter and form. The book took shape through an ongoing exchange of ideas and experimentation with graphic designer Julie Elise Hauge
